Things going on in class

 Dear Parents, October 26, 2020

Here is a glance at what we have covered so far this September and October. We have completed four chapters in Religion. Jesus has been our main focus for the first three. What a great way to start the school year off by learning from the best! In math we have been focusing on estimating, rounding, and adding multiple numbers in addition. In Reading we are on our fourth story in the first Unit of our journey’s book. We have read stories like A Fine, Fine, School, The Trial of Cardigan Jones, Destiny’s Gift, and this week Pop’s Bridge. In English and Writing our focus has been on sentences. The kinds of sentences and subjects and predicates.

The class has had some fun along the way making our scary spelling word posters, several science experiments like elephant toothpaste, and games like Sparkle for review before our spelling tests. I have enjoyed being back and teaching your children. It brings me joy and comfort to be back in school. I love the routine and seeing the kids every morning when they come in slowly and they say good morning to me. I have enjoyed spooking out my class room and can’t wait to decorate my room for Thanksgiving and  Christmas.

It has been a struggle for all of us wearing masks, taking mask breaks, getting outside for class and lunch. I am trying my hardest to make it comfortable at the same time safe for all in my class. I am always trying to do what is right for your children. They are trying very hard. Please continue to drill in their heads that they need to always wear their masks. When they are eating something they can’t talk. Please make sure they have a good book to read. As the weather changes I will keep you up to date on how I will keep the kids entertained when they are not outside for recess. I have some ideas and I might need your help.

Last week was a tough week. We had to have several of my students stay home from school. It is never easy for anyone to find out that one day you are in school and the next you can’t go for a week or two. What is most important is that when this happened we all came together to help each other out. I will always be there for you. I will do whatever I can for you, your families, and especially my students.' I want everyone to know this could happen to any one of us. It is nobody's fault. This is a terrible disease that we just don’t have enough information about. It will take time for all of this to get better. I pray every day that God will help our world find a cure.

Thanks,

Mr. G
