Note to Parents

Dear Parents,

Thank you for all you have done for me and my family during this difficult time. I am recovering nicely. COVID is no joke. Both Ollie and my beautiful wife Vicky both got it a couple of days ago. They are getting better everyday. I am sorry I have not been in school to teach and take care of your children. I cannot wait to get back to school. I am very appreciative to Mr. Tosti, Mrs. Manion, and especially my grade partner Mrs. Bondi. They have done an amazing job helping care for your children while I have been out of school.   I will be ready for 2021! I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please be safe and have a wonderful Christmas vacation. I will see everyone next year. If you need anything I will be back in action by next week.

Sincerely,

Mr. G

Religion:

What will make this Christmas season more meaningful for you? A visit from family? A favorite Christmas song? A children’s program at church? Something else?

Whatever your answer(s) may be, a sure-fire way to make the countdown to Christmas more meaningful is prayer. There is no better time to turn your heart to prayer than this season leading up to the celebration of the birth of Jesus. So here is a list of 5 Christmas prayer prompts to follow, pick one to write today.

1.  Give thanks for the joys of family and friends this season.

2.  Give thanks for your favorite Christmas carol.

3.  Pray for those who are lonely this holiday season—widows, widowers, invalids, etc.

4.  Pray for those who will be working over the holidays—police, firefighters, hospital, and nursing home staff.

5. Pray for the children you know and love to grasp the true meaning and blessing of Christmas.

On a separate piece of paper, please write a prayer of your choice.  Your prayer should be at least three sentences long. Share this with a member of your family later today.

Dear Teachers,

The 7th grade is forming a project to give socks to the homeless. Will you please tell your students about this project? We are hoping that each family can donate at least 2 new pairs of socks so that the homeless’ feet will stay warm during the winter season. Whenever people donate to the homeless, they give toiletries, clothing, food, water, but rarely socks. New socks are greatly needed to prevent foot problems. In conclusion, socks for the homeless are one of their greatest needs. The deadline for the donations is 12/22. Can you please share this service drive with your students and their families. Thank you so much for your help.

Sincerely,

Chris Ventura and the all of the 7th grade class

Parents if you can help in any way that would be great!

Science Experiment 4: Dissolving Candy Canes

Well tis the season to have some fun in science. Yesterday I did a demo with the kids in both of my Science classes using candy canes. We tried to predict which candy cane would dissolve first. So don't be surprised if your child wants to do this over the weekend. I hope you don't mind. They really enjoyed it. Merry Christmas!
