Simple Machine Legos

 I would like to thank Mia and the rest of the Ciavarelli Family for the Lego donation for Science class. It was very kind  and generous of them to give us the Legos to use in school. If you ever want to declutter and get rid of any unused Legos just let me know and I will gladly take them off your hands. Please check out the amazing Simple Machine creations both Science classes made this week. We made levers, wheel and axles, wedges, screw, incline planes, and pulleys.

Dress Down Day

 Tomorrow is a dress down day! the kids can wear different gym clothes and dress down for a dollar if they would like too! It is not mandatory! Have a great night.

 No Homework all week do to the extremely draining Terra Nova Testing

All students are to go outside after school, with their parents permission and have fun playing outside if the weather permits. 

They can go over notes, review packets, and practice problems on their own if they choose but no official homework for this week

Holy Eucharist

 Holy Communion Update 

• The tentative schedule for Holy Eucharist is the first two weekends in May. 

• Same procedures as last year

• Sister Mary will be holding a possible Virtual Meeting, an email from her office will be going out sometime next week, at that meeting have your questions ready for her regarding scheduling your date for Holy Eucharist and anything else you can think of. 

• We continue to prepare the children in class for receiving their Holy Communion

• Don’t forget on the 23rd of March is the Third Grade School Mass,all are welcome to attend socially distant of course.

Terra Nova Note

 Dear Parents, March 1, 2021

Good morning everyone, as I write this note to you, I hope this will help explain how we will prepare for the up and coming Terra Nova Testing happening in the next week and a half. My hope is to continue to teach new material for the school year while having the kids complete some Terra Nova packets in school and at home for their practice. I will try to go over those packets weekly. For those who don’t know what the Terra Novas are, they are simply a standardized test that all the grades in our school take. The school uses the data from the testing to see where we can do better as a school in educating the students of St. Katharine’s. There is no study guide for the class to look over. We can’t tell them what is exactly on the test. All we can do is prepare them for how to answer questions that might be on the test. I will try and encourage them to do their best without making them anxious. All I ever tell them is to try their best and God will do the rest!

Things they will need to be successful during the testing days. A good night’s sleep, a great breakfast, plenty of sharpened number two pencils, a filled water bottle, and something to read quietly. The testing schedule will be posted soon. The Third Grade is the only grade with a longer In-View Test. It will be on Wednesday and Thursday, March 10th and 11th. The In-View is a test that measures their Cognitive ability. The rest of the Core Battery Testing will take place the following week. The Core Battery are the Subject based tests: Reading, Math, ELA, Social Studies, and Science.  Please talk to your children and reassure them to just try their best. During Terra Novas there will be no homework. Any other questions or concerns please feel free to email me at any time and I will get back to you in a timely manner. Have a great day.
